MANGONUI HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD

A meeting of the above Board was held in the County Office, Kaitaia, on December loth, 1920. Present: Messrs. Houston (Chairman), Evans, Long, Panther, Pearson, and Wrathall. The minutes as circulated were cotiSpecial Grant to supplement Subsidy— The Inspector-General of Hospitals wrote stating that a special grant of £l5O would be made to the Board before the close of ♦the Financial year tosupplement the usual Government Subsidy. Resolved that flic Department be thanked lor same. Chairman—Pearson: It was decided * that the question of disposing of block of ambergris in the Board’s possession be deferred pending information from Mr. Wagner. £ Pearson—Wrathall; Resolved that the Piako County Council be asked to supply the Board with Medical evidence as to the need and suitability of retaining the Waikato Sanatorium. Hospital Fces-*-The Bay of Islands Hospital Board wrote suggesting that the fees charged patients in the Northern Hospitals be increased and asked if the * Board was in favour of concerted action ~ in making such charges uniform. 1 WrathaH—Pearson: That the present ' fees charged be retained with the exception of the fee of £2 2s. paid the Medical be charged to patients. Amendment— Houston—Evans; That the fees be increased from £2 2s. per week to £2 9s. The amendment on being put to the meeting was lost, the mover and seconder only voting in favour. The motion was then put and carried. Chairman—Pearson : Resolved that the Secretary prepare a return showing cost per day of maintaining patients at Mangonui Hospital. Pearson —Chairman: That the Matron be instructed to ascertain from patients re Old Age Pension with having a view 1 of having same collected whilst in hospital Chairman —Long: Resolved that Sister M. Wilson be appointed Matron of the Mangonui Hospital subject to the approval of the Hon. Minister of Hospitals. Accounts amounting to £177 18s. 2d. passed for payment Secretary to supply each member of the Board with a list of unpaid Hos- — pital fees. i'lKt Secretary to make enquiries re cost of suitable wood sawing plant for Hospital.
