DEMOCRACY IN THE SCHOOLROOM

Such is the title of an interesting book of a couple of hundred pages that has lately come under our notice. It is written by Messrs McClure and Lord, and is published by the well known firm of Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd.

“ Democracy in the Schoolroom” has the merit of being written by New Zealand Teachers for New Zealand Teachers, and therefore deals with conditions as they are found in this country. In the preface of the book we are told that Mr. McClure has had charge of the Model Country School in connection with the Auckland Training College.

Mr. Lord was at one time in charge of the Mangonui School, North Auckland, a school which still enjoys a more than local reputation for the quality of its work, combined with the very democratic nature of its government —(From Te Waka Maori)
