LICENSE FEES.
The following are the license fees snggested for the next year by the conference of Northern County Councils recently held at Ohaewai have to be ratified by the respective Councils before any more can be made.
Cars.—Private motor cars £2; private motor cycle £l; f . c-seater taxi £7 10s: over five-seater £lO.
Lorries. —Lorry up to 15 cwt. £7 10s; to 25 cwt £10; to 2 ton £l2 10s; to 3 ton £ls. Motor tractors for farmer’s own use, £l;lorry or tractor with trailer, £ls; traction engine, £ls. One horse dray £l; two horses and over £1 ios wagon, four horses or over, £2 10s mail coach £2. Bullock teams £lO. The basis for the width of tyres was fixed at 3cwt. for every lin width. Motor Vehicles.—Motor lorry not to exceed 12 miles an hour; through townshipsspeed not to exceed 10 miles an hour; when passing another vehicle or without a clear view of over 5 chains of road, 10 miles an hour; when without a clear view of over I chain of road 5 miles an hour; when passing over bridges 5 miles an hour.
All horses and horse drawn vehicles when passing over bridges not to exceed a walk.
In regard to the wages question, this was left in the hands of the four engineers, who, at an early date, are to make a tonr of the Counties, and will then be in a better position to judge.
