KAITAIA BRASS BAND

A meeting of the committee of the above took place on Wednesday, 21st inst. Present; —Colonel Bell (Chairman), Messrs. W. R. Grigg, R. A. Johnston, T. Willis, A. O. Bateman, A. Armiger, Jackson, McMahon, J. M. Forster, W. A. N. Campbell, and C. Jenkins. The Secretary reported that already upwards of £SO had been donated towards the purchase of instruments and read a letter from Messrs. Eady & Co. quoting £lB6 18s. for a set of 15 second hand instruments with two drums, and £2lB Bs. for a new set of Boosey instruments. These quotations were subject to 20 per cent discount for cash, and 15 per cent on terms. On the motion of Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Northwood, it was unanimously decided to wire and secure the new instruments and to continue a further energetic canvass for funds. Mr. Willis reported that already 26 members had agreed to join the band. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Saturday, June 14th, when trustees will be appointed agreement between the trustees and the band will be submitted. All those who have not yet sent in' their donations to this deserving institution are requested to forward them to the Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. R. A.
