Meeting of Mangonui County Council held on Thursday, December 20th, all members present. Garton -Matthews That the minutes of meeting be adopted as read.—Carried. dartou—L. J. Matthew That Winstones Ltd. account for hauling timber be deferred until their representative waits upon the Council at their next meeting.—Carried. LongJ-Garton That the information requested by Mr. Givellcs be supplied.— , Carried. RE MASTERS-TUCK ROAD Houston—Long That Messrs. Logan and Stout be instructed to obtain a full plan of this road when Blakes plans arc passed.—Carried. Re dedication road through Church Mission Lands Old Land Claim 242. H. B. Matthews—Evans That the certiiicatc mentioned in letter from Parr and Blomfield be signed when received from the Survey Department.—Carried. Garton —Houston That the letter from E.Cheal Auckland Railway League be received and considered when funds are available —Carried. t Long—Evans That this Council ap- ■ proves of the application of Mr. T. R. * Gibson to have his Slaughter House License transferred to Mr. R. M. Jones, and also that a renewal of the same Slaughter House License be granted to Mr. Jones as per applications accompanied by the fees due.—Carried. Evans—Garton That Mate Srhoy's letter be received and that he be informed that the charge of £lO on his two billiard tables was quite in order. —Carried. Evans—Long That in reply to letter dated 23rd ultimo, the Council inform Commissioner of Crown Lands that we offer no objection to F. Bloomfield effecting the draining as per his request | upon Section 14, Block VI Opae S.D. Such drain not to exceed a depth of five feet from present level —Carried. L. J. Matthaus—Garton That the matrepairs on the Hihi Oruaiti BIPP!! by W. Long—Evans That the Resident Engineer W hangarei be requested to accept the recommendation of the Mangonui County Council that the free money grants available for Otuki to Fairburn’s Road and the Mangatetc to Kaitaia Road be made urgent and the important works in question be put in hand as soon as possible.—Carried. Panther—Herbert Matthews Resolved that the matter of Mr. John Foster request re ditch be left in the hands of the Mangonui Riding Member to deal with m —Carried. Panther—Garton That the offer of G. May for carting spalls from Meffin’s Quarry on to Main Road between Duncan’s Road and flat bush hill be accepted at 4/- per yard.—Carried. H. B. Matthews—Garton That the Engineer be instructed to undertake repairs to Fisher's Road to the value of £ll. Carried.

Matthews—Garton That the Chairman be instructed to write to Public Works Department to arrange for the Certificates to be converted into a more tangible form of negotiation.—Carried. Garton—Houston That this Council advertise for applications for the position of working foreman to take charge of two horse teams and do general road repair works. Applicants to supply satisfactory references and state salary rcta'jired, and address to Clerk, Mangonui Council, Mangonui, before 24th January 1918.—Carried. Panther—H. B. Matthews That the tender of Mr. Kirtlan to cart metal on Victoria Valley-Takahue Road at 3/9 per yard be accepted.—Carried. H. B. Matthews—L. J. Matthews That W. Constable’s tender for supplying Dog at 13 pence each be accepted. - to be according to sample sub—Carried. * H. B. Wrathall—Gtfrfon That Mr. R. T. Matthews That, the County Chairman, Councillor H. B. Matthews and J. Garton be a Sub Committee associated with the County Solicitors and Engineer to revise the County By-laws and submit same to the next meeting of the Council for approval.—Carried. L. J. Matthews—Houston That the sum of seven pounds be expended on approaches to Ovcringtons Road, Back River when funds are available.—Carried, L. J. Matthews—Houston That Mr. Taale’s tender be accepted for Dog> Vehicle, Billiard and Motor Licenses at one shilling each on Dog Collars and 15 per cent. oji Vehicle-Motor and Billiard Licenses.
