OUR CREDITOR
At the recent meeting of the General Committee of the Kaitaia Chamber of Commerce the President Colonel Bell made the suggestion that the proposed Technical and High school should be erected as a memorial to the late T. W. P. Smith. He was afraid that the people did not fully realise the excellent services rendered to thedistrietby the late gentleman who had been a leader in thought and action in the North for a long number of years. Many of the schemes that were being carried out, or about to be carried out to-day, had been advocated by the late gentleman many years ago. His misfortune was that he was always ahead of the times. Colonel Bell said that the carrying out of the suggestion which he had made would be a graceful, if wholly inadequate tribute to the late Mr Smith, who had done more than any other for the advancement of the North, in the years gone by.
