An Opposition View.
In referring to the Parnell eleotion contest between Sir John Findlay and Messrs. Moss, Maok and Diokson, the “ Dominion” newspaper urges Opposition supporters to vote for labour candidates where there are no Opposition candidates. The “Dominion” is owned exclusively by the Opposition party and on the directorate are the well-known leaders of the party, Messrs. Herdman and Buchanan. We olip the following from the leading artiole of the 17th fnstant:— “In the ciroumstanoes the obvious thing to do, it seems to us, in the event of Mr. Moss being compelled to withdraw—whioh we sinoerely hope will not be the case—is for the supporters of the Reform party to throw iu their lot whole-heartedly with the workers on the side of the Labour candidate, Mr. Mack. Wherever there is no Opposition oandidate, and wherever a labour candidate is left in the second billot with a Government oandidate, the friends of Reform should vote with Labour. The Reform party and Labour are in disagreement on many points, but they have a common enemy who is a menace to the well-being of both and a danger to the whole community. United they can orush that enemy, strengthen the respective causes they are fighting for, render the country a great servioe, and inaugurate a new and a better era in the publio life of the Dominion. In the readjustment of parties whioh must follow Labour has everything to gain—the defeat of the Government will mark the first real forward step whioh Labour has made since it fell a viotim to the promises and professions of the Ward Administration.”
