New South Wales Politics.

Farmers Demand Dissolution

The New South Wales Farmers’ and Settlers’ Association has taken up a strong position in regard to politics, and is calling upon branches to pass an emphatio resolution urging the immediate dissolution of Parliament, so that the question of Freehold versus Leasehold, and other matters, may be decided by the electors. Following is the letter sent by the president and general secretary :

“ Iu view of the unsatisfactory position in the State Parliament, and the gross misrepresentation of the facts iu connection with the views of settlers on the vitally important matter, both to the Stale and to the individual, of the respective policies of the Government in support of leasehold tenure, and the Farmers’ and Settlers’ Association in support of freehold title, and in consideration of the fact that this matter was not particularly in evidence at the last general election, being overshadowed by the partisan

cries attaching to the Bowling episode and the other issues, we would ask your members to move an emphatic resolution to be sent through the member for your electorate (whether Liberal or Labour) to the Government urging the immediate dissolution of Parliament, so that these matters can be d6oided by the people when the issues are clearly placed before them. “As it requires considerable moral suasion to induce a member to favour a dissolution, we would strongly urge that any assistance that oan be given by your members to induce your parliamentary representative to support the early dissolution of Parliament, irrespective of the re-distribution of seats, will be directly in the interests of proper Government of the State. “Trusting to have the cordial support of your members.”
