WAIMATE NORTE.
(From our own Correspondent.) The inoessant heavy rains of late have greatly retarded outdoor pursuits, especially from an agricultural point, and in many places newly sown seeds hare been transferred to adjacent swauips aud oreeks by the heavy rains. Also our raadi, where we are fortunate (?) enough to be without metal are remarkably bad for this time of year, and if the chapter is to be continued we will shortly have to stay at home until the spring. In honour of their daughter’s ooming wedding Mr. and Mrs. Choat treated their many friends to a social on the 28th ultimo, when a most pleasant evening of danoing, games, oarde, musio and song was spent. The music supplied by Messrs. York# and Fuller was brilliant, and yours humbly being among the guests oan safely aver that this was one of the most harmonious and sociable sooials I have ever attended. Miss Ethel Choat and Mr. Richard Stratton are to be married at Pakaraka Churoh on Monday, 15th instant, and leave by Tuesday’s boat en route for The Hutt where they intend to reside.
