The Kaiser’s Rebuke.

The Kaiser has a great dislike to the German habit of tucking the serviette under the chin at dinner. Some time ago a newly appointed ambassador was a guest at the Palace, and before beginning to eat he hid his expansive shirtfront beneath a large napkin. Presently the Kaiser looked across the table and his face clouded. “Tell me, my dear Excellency,” he said, “do you want to be shaved just now ? ” Needless to say that the abashed guest iustantly bared his shirt-front.
