Mangonui and Whangaroa Acclimatisation Society.

A meeting of the above was held in the commercial room of the Mangonui Hotel (Webb’s) at 7.80 p.m. on Saturday last. There were present Messrs. H, G. Hunt, W. J. Hands, P. A. Roebuck, 11. Dacre, P. W, Dumbly, Drummond and W. T. Dutener (Secretary) and Dr.” Forbes.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A vote of sympathy for the President (Mr. W. Wilkinson) on account of bis illness was recorded.

Proposed by Mr. W. J. Harris, seconded by Mr. P. Dambly and agreed that the balance-sheet as read be passed and a copy bo sent to the Government department, Wellington.

As order for 30,000 trout ova was cancelled. At the instanoe of Mr. W. J. Harris, supported by Dr. Forbes, the Secretary was directed to enquire as to the price of rainbow trout ova and if advisable order a shipment. Mr. H. G. Hunt proposed and Mr. P. Dambly seconded: That the Secretary write to Mr. Chumside, Victoria, asking him to quote a price for red deer ; nine does and three bucks.

A unanimous vote of thanks to Mr. Bray for bis kindness in granting gratis the use of his property to the Society, for fish-batching purposes, was entered upon the minutes.

It was arranged that tlie Secretary obtain Hungarian partridge to the value of £ls, and pheasants to a like value, for breeding purposes and that he arrange, if possible, with Mr. Fred Aduiußon to take charge of the consignments on arrival.

It was directed that the Secretary write to the Premier explaining that tho Society is not iu a position to pay for ova and to ask fora grant for same,

An enquiry as to a fine of £5 paid into the Kaitaia Court is to be made by the Secretary,

Instructions were given for enquiry into certain prosecutions and the commencement of proceedings where neoesBary.

On the motion of Mr. P. A. Roebuck, seconded by Mr. W. J. Harris, the Secretary’s honorarium was fixed at £0 per annum.

A vote of thanks to the Auditor (Mr. P. A. Roebuck) and a similar compliment to the Chairman (Mr. H. G. Hunt) concluded the meeting.
