A FOREST FABLE.
Things sometimes come the wrong way. A hunter set out one day to hunt, and a panther set out at the same time to eat.
“I must have a fur overcoat, said the hunter.
“I,” said the panther, “must have a dinner.”
Some hours later, in a lonely wood the panther .and the hunter met. “Aha !” said the hunter, gaily, levelling his gun. v “Here's my fur overcoat.”
And he shot ; but the panther, dodging behind a tree, escaped unhurt.
Then the panther rushed forth before the hunter could reload.
.“Alia ! Here’s my dinner,” said the panther. And he fell upon the hunter and devoured him.
Thus each got what he wanted, the hunter getting his fur overcoat 1 , and the panther getting his dinner.
