The salesman brought a pile and showed them to . her ; but she said she had seen those | elsewhere—nothing suited her. "Haven't you something new?", she asked rather doubtfully. The shopman then fetched out an- i other pile and shewed them to her. j "These are the newest patterns," i he said. "You will notice the edge I runs right round the border, and the centre is in the middle." "Dear me, yes ! I will take half a dozen qf each,” said the customer. The shopman grinned, and served the tablecloths instanter.
