ON TWOPENCE.
The earnings of Sandy M'lntosh amounted to a pound a week, and, like a good husband, when he was paid on Saturday night he went home and gave that pound to his better half.
One Saturday, however, he hand id her over but nineteen and tcnpence. Mrs. Sandy looked at the coinn sadly but made no remark. On the following Saturday, enter Sandy with the same amount. Mi's. Sandy again took the proffered coins without a word.
The third Saturday, however, It was too much for her, ami $n receiving the same amount she burst into tears. "0 Sandy, Sandy ! " the mailed.; "What hae ye been doin' ? "
“Wecl," said Sandy, "these three Saturdays Aie met auid Donald an'' we've had drinks.
"O Sandy," she sobbed, as the tears of thankfuloens ran down her checks, "J’m sae glad. I dinna mind ye’re extravagance so much; but h was afraid ye were keeping up Van ofitablishiiwnta." A
