(From our Own Correspondent). Miss Minnett, of the Auckland Post Office, has been for the past week acting as locum tenens for Miss Stephenson while the latter has been enjoying a week’s holiday. Mrs. E. H. Irving, who has been for the past six months in the Auckland Hospital, is back again and on a fair way to recovery. Mr. A. B. Wright (Government Engineer) accompanied by Messrs. H. H. Thompson (Road Inspector) and J. James (Bridge Inspector) were engaged

last week laying off a road to the copper mines. Mr. Wright also inspected the ferro-concrete bridge on the Kaeo-Man-gonui road, and expressed himself highly satisfied with the manner in which Mr. James had done the work.

A very quiet wedding was solemnised on Saturday, the 22nd instant, the contracting parties being Mr. Arnold Hayes, second son of Mr. Win. Hayes, of Whangaroa, and Miss Holly Ferguson, seoond daughter of Mr. Hudson Ferguson, of Kaeo.

The long-talked-of football match, Kaeo v. Totara, eventuated on Saturday, the 29th instant, and after a very exciting and tough struggle resulted in a win for Kaeo by six points to nil. Tries were secured by B. Siever and L. Kenny for the winners. Mr. Ridings gave every satisfaction as referee. September 29th, 1906.
