In the year 1900 a seedsman whose gardens are near London, bought for a pound or two a large consignment of ixia seed. When the plants flowered he was amazed to find that several of them had produced blooms of a delicate and brilliant green. By the sale of this new stock the seedsman made several hundred pounds. The use of superheated steam in locomotives does not entail the multitude of practical difficulties that so generally accompany any invention or improvement that is introduced to improve the economic results obtained from a locomotive,.and, indeed, it is probable that as experience with }ts application developes, some of the expenses that ace incurred In tbe locomotive pf to-day will to dtoMM rather than increased.
