Terrible Dynamite Explosion. 500 Rendered Homeless. Damage Estimated at 1,000,000 Dollars. • Nine Killed, Fifty Injured. NEW YORK, September 22. A waggon load of dynamite on a railway siding at Jellicoe, a town in Tennessee, exploded and practically wrecked the place. Nine persons Were killed, 50 injured, and 500 have been rendered homeless. The damage is estimated at a million dollars. The occurrence is described as though some men were practising shooting at a mark on the side of the car, which was laden with 400 cases of dynamite. The Hongkong Typhoon. 10,000 Lives Lost. HONGKONG, September 22. The latest particulars of the disastrous typhoon at Hongkong state that fully 10,000 lives Were lost, the increased death roll being due to the loss of the Whole fishing fleet of 600 junks.
