Hall, auctioneer, by his brisk and taking manner managed to make a fair sale of nearly all articles put up, and on the whole, prices realised were very fair, some small (hings going far beyond cost. A general feeling of deep regret prevails among the school children at the. departure of their chief. Mr. Maxwell leaves for town by Thursday’s boat. We Lave also been favoured this week by two mining experts visiting the district with a view'to ascertain ir there is sufficient inducement to start boring operations, having already secured the right of prospecting over a large area of land in and around here. tu> far they are well satisfied with the indications in various places.
