Bubonic Plague.

Questioned as to the truth of the reported statement that bubonic plague in the pulmonary form in which it has broken out at Balmain, Sydney, is at leaßt as contagious as small-pox, Dr. Mason, Chief Health Officer, says“ Ever since the first epidemic appeared at Sydney the New Zealand health authorities have continued the inspection of passengers oommg from Australian ports. The only additional precaution taken in consequence of the recent outbreak was a telegram to all port health officers to watch closely for all persons suffering from lung complaints of any kind, and detain them for further examination. The disease is the same in each form of plague, and the only difference now is that the ailment has expressed itself through another organ.
