Kenana.
(From our own correspondent.) Several of th#Bections opened up for selection at Kenena have been taken up by local people. Mr. • Foster was successful in getting three sections, aud Mrs. F. Paul drew one section of G 3& acres. Although the land is not of the best quality, it is well adapted for fruit and poultry farming. A rumour is current that bears arc to be introduced into Kenena, and it is time Oruru had some of these pets round there—not all to be dumped into Kenena. The opposums are already denuding the puriri trees of their hark. No movement re the Kohumaru road yot. Like the Northern Railway, it will ho something to look toward to. Good bums have taken place, and the grass seed is sown. I bear the Kohumaru Block will not be ready for selection until next Xmas, as the survey is far from completion—a poor look-out for tho intending settlers to get the bush out for next season. The pakoha is having trouble with ('c Natives. Tho latter laet week sui/cd u cow belonging to one man, and demanded £3 for trespass, which he of course declined to pay. Tho Natives have no more grass than they had 25 years ago, yet their stock is wandering everywhere on pakeha land.
