The first mating of tho new Council wic hold in the Council Chambers on Wednesday, November 22nd. All the councillors wore present, and Mr. Horace W illiai. s was re-elected chairman. Pro]iored by Cr. Wilson and seconded by Cr. Siewart—That the salary of the clerk and steward be the same for the ensuing year as last.—Agreed to. Proposed by Cr. Clark and seconded by Cr, Ludbrook—That the salary of the engineer be i 1125, the same as last year, with £5 allowed for travelling expenses.—

Agreed to. Proposed by Cr. Stewart and seconded by Cr. Marshall —That the treasurer collect and receivo the rates for the ensuing year without commission, and that all rate notices be sent through the post. —Agreed to. Proposed by Cr. Stewart and seconded by Cr. Ludbrook—That the engineer be granted a concession of three and threequarter per cent, on all amounts expended from Government grants. —Agreed to. Proposed by Cr. Hewin and seconded by Or. Ludbrook—That Mr. J. B. Williams be appointed wharfinger for Russell for the ensuing year at the usual salary of £loo.—Agreed to. Proposed by Cr. Willis and seconded by Cr. Stewart—That the remuneration of the County Clerk for work in connection with Russell Wharf be the same as last year, £25. —Agreed to. Proposed by Cr. Edwards and seconded by Cr. H. Williams—That Cre. Stewart and Marshall be elected to represent the Council on the North Auckland Charitable Aid and Hospital Board. —Agreed to.

Proposed by Cr. Willis and seconded by Cr. Edwards—That Mr. 1,. C. Goffe be permitted to erect a swing gate across the landing road at Waitangi Falls.— Agreed to. Proposed by Cr. Stewart and seconded by Cr. Marshall—That the engineer be instructed to lay off a road through Mr. W. J. Tait’s projierty at Oue.—Agreed to.

Proposed by Cr. Willis and seconded by Cr. Clark—That the sum of £ls be expended in fascining and repairs to No. 2 Road at Okaihau from opposite White’s in accordance with a petition from C. A. Lambury and others; the cost to be charged to Government grant or to be paid by the Council if there should be no grant money.—Agreed to. Proi>oscd by Cr. Hewin and seconded by Cr. Edwards—That the tender of T. R. Williams (£34 5/-) be accepted for work nn Parabaki-Russell Road contract, No. 198.

Cr. Clark gave notice to move—That a supply of broken metal be laid along the main County roads at intervals for winter repairs. The business concluded with the passing of accounts for payment.
