IN compliance with a resolution of the House of Representatives, passed on the 22nd October, 1872, a BONUS is hereby offered for the encouragement of certain COLONIAL INDUSTRIES, namely :— ' IRON. BONUS OF £5,000. For the production in New Zealand of 1,000 tonß weight of Pig Iron, of marketable quality. Conditions. 1. The bonus not to bo given for any quantity less c than 100 tons. 2. Notice of the intention to erect Iron Works a.ncL clcliiu tLie bonus xrtust; be givexi to tile Colonial Seoretary, before 31st December, 1873. 3. The bonus must be claimed before the 30th June, 1875. 4. In the event of more than one claimant giving such notice, not more than seven-tenths of the bonus may be claimed by the first producer ;■ and not more than three-tenths by the second producer 5 but if only one claimant becomes a producer on the above conditions, he may claim the whole of the bonus. 5. The Iron in respect of which any bonus is claimed will be examined by an officer to be appointed by the Government, who may require the production of bond fide accountsales of quantities not less than 100 tons weight, showing that such Iron has been Bold at a fair market price as Pig Iron. SUGAR. BONUS OF £2,000. For the production of 250 tons of Sugar manufactured from Beet-root in New Zealand. Conditions. 1. Notice of the intention to claim this bonus must be given to the Colonial Secretary before 31st December, 1873. 2. Claims for payment of the bonus to bo sent in before 30th June, 1875. 3. The bonus will be paid to the producer who first effects a iond fide sale of the amount of Sugar specified. EISH. BONUS OF 4s. PER CWT. This bonus will be paid on Cured Fish, dry or pickled, exported from the Colony for consumption abroad. Conditions. 1. The bonus will be paid to the producer on the production of account-sales, showing that the Fish has been sold out of the Colony for fair market value. 2. The exporter to enter into a bond not to re- - land in the Colony any Fish on which a bonus has been paid. 3. The bonus may be claimed on all Fish exported between Ist August, 1872, and the Ist of November, 1879, and is to be paid out of any moneys appropriated by Parliament for the purpose. The above rewards will be paid on the certificate of an officer appointed by Government that the conditions applicable to each reward have been complied with. 374 Daniel Pollen.
