WINTER EVENING LECTURES.
To raff Editor op the ' Nelson Examinee.' Sib — Last year a few gentlemen associated themselves, and got up a series of lectures which were in every way successful, and, if I remember rightly, a small charge for admission defrayed the expenses which attended them, and left a balance ' of a few pounds for a public object. As I have heard of no similar effort for our instruction and amusement this winter, I wish to appeal through your columns to the gentlemen to whose efforts we were indebted for the lectures of last year ; and should they not feel disposed to undertake a similar task this season, then I would appeal to the Committee of the Institute. There would, I am sure, be no difficulty in finding five or six gentlemen in Nelson willing to give the public the benefit of their knowledge on subjects not studied by the mass of our population, and which could be made entertaining as well as instructive. Hoping to hear soon of arrangements made for Buch a series of lectures, I remain, &c, June 28, 1870. T. S.
