PARISH OF CHRIST CHURCH.

The adjourned meeting was held at tho Bishop s School Room, on Friday, tho 13th May, at 7 p.m. Thero were present: — Tho Rev. G. 11. Johnstone, Chairman ; Dr. Scaly, and Mr. Acton Adams, Churchwardens ; Messrs. Everett, F. Edwards, Wright, Mabin, Scaife, Jackson, Lee, Sharp, J. D. Greenwood, O. IT. Brown, TL. .Adams, Drunner, JHutuloH, Bonnington, Dr. Williams, and Messrs. Dodson, Wigzell, and Sinclair. Tho minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr. 0. H. Brown explained the new financial echemo proposed by the Synod, expressing his own views upon tho Bubjecfc, and urging its adoption by tho Parish. Mr. J. D. Greenwood proposed, and Mr. C. H. Brown socondod :—": — " That as a means of adding to tho Church Fund for the Diocese of Nelson, this meeting thinks it is most desirablo that collections bo inado quarterly from each member of the Church in this Parish who is willing to subscribe in accordance with tho resolution of the Synod." Carried. Dr. Scaly proposed, and Mr. Lee seconded : — " That tLis meeting fully indorses the scheme proposed by tho Synod, and hereby agrees to give up ono-fifth of tho offertories and tho Church Fund for tho year onding Juno 30, 1871, and to receive back from tho fund towards the Minister's stipend an amount not less than £36." — On this, tho meeting divided. — Ayes 7, Noes 13 j consequently the motion was lost. •Mr. Shabp proposed, and Mr. Acton Adams seconded :—": — " That in aid of tho Church Fund, and in lieu of tlio Diocosau and Endowment Fund collections, two Bpecial offertories, ono in oach half year, be inado in Christ Church." Carried. Mr. Mabin proposed, and Mr. J. D. Greenwood seconded : — " That on and after the Ist July next, the sittings bo let at 155., instead of 125." Mr. Wigzell proposod, and Mr. Lee seconded as an amendment : — " That it is not desirable at preBont to raise tho pew rents in Christ Church." Amendment carried.
