PICTON.
Arrived.—July 26, steamer Airedale, from Nelson. Sailed.—July 26, steamer Airedale, for Wellington,
The Steamer Airedale. —Tho delay in the arrival of the Airedale from Manukau led to various conjectures as to the cause of her being two days behind her time. The fineness of the weather in Nelson discouraged the idea that bad weather was the cause of the Airedale's detention. Such, however, was the case, the bar at Manukau being so bad that Captain Kennedy delayed his departure for the time above stated. The Flying- Squadron.—An English paper furnishes the names of vessels composing the flying squadron, and also that of the commander. They are—the Liverpool, thirty-five guns; Liffey, thirtyone guns; Phoebe, thirty-five guns; Endymion, twenty-one guns; Bristol, thirty-one guns—all powerful fast-going unarmoured frigates ; Clio, twenty-two guns, which will relieve the Challenger ; and Scylla, twenty-one gnns, both wooden corvettes. The squadron will be under the command of RearAdmiral Hornby. The route will be as follows :—: — Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Cape of Good Hope, Australia, and New Zealand.
