SYDNEY.—January 15.
In the import markets the most noticeable feature has been an active inquiry for sugars. Tho Sugar Company have advanced their quotations for No. 1 pieces to £13. Snowdrop and loaf remain unaltered. Sales of Mauritius sorts have been made by importers at an advance of about £2 per ton on late quotations. The flour market is unusually dull; the demand for the country districts has almost ceased, as the new crop is now available. Adelaide sorts are quoted at £12 10s. to £13 10. The market is bare of new Adelaide wheat, and most of the shipments advised as afloat have been contracted for. Maizo is very firm at a slight advance on last week's prices. Candles have an advancing tendency owing to a movement in the Melbourne- markets.—Sydney Morning Herald.
