BRRATUM.
"We have been requested to correct an error which crept into Mr. Vickerman's evidence at the inquest on the bodies of the four murdered men. In speaking of Mathieu's death, we made him say, " that in his ascending vena cava, I found with the bullet some tow which I think is a portion of his coat;" and further on, " the bullet passed between the seventh and eighth ribs, and lodged under the skin, near the point of the blade bone of the right side." The correct version is, that the bullet which caused death, did so, by wounding the large bloodvessel called the vena cava, and had lodged beneath the skin between the seventh and eighth ribs, near the point of the blade-bone of the right side ; the opposite side to that which the bullet first entered. The piece of cloth was in the bullet wound, which was found below the left blade bone on the same side, and lower than the stab wound, and in which the pistol bullet had lodged under the skin, towards the Bpine, and about four inches from its point of ingress on the same side.
