AUSTRALIAN TELEGRAMS.
Melbourne, May 4. In consequence of the publication of the Government statistics, showing there are only 65,000 tons of breadstuffs available for exportation, instead of 80,000 tons, a rise has taken place. Sales of 1,000 to 1,500 tons of flour have been made — 200 tons of Hart's brought £21. Large sales of wheat have been effected at 7s. 6d. May 5. The Assembly voted yesterday £125,000 for education.
May 6. It is reported that Bishop Goold is about to proceed to Europe. Mr. Amsterg has suspended payment. Liabilities, £7,000. The Assembly voted £3,000 for an equatorial telescope.
May 9. Flour market very unsettled. Fuller Californian news by the Constance is anxiously expected. £24 was refused to-day for Adelaide flour. Tasmanian brought £22 — considerable inquiry for this flour. 2,000 bushels wheat were sold to-day at 9s. 3d. ; for large parcels not less than 9s. will be taken net ; 9s. 6d. is offered for seed. It is stated that five vessels are chartered for Hobart Town, to load with flour, oats, and powder, for the Auckland Commissariat.

Townßend and Co. sold to-day a promissory note of T. F. Harrison's, of Queensland, for £18,192 2s. lid., due in five years from June, 1863, for £260.
May 6. 800 tons of flour have boen sold to-day at £21 to £24. Bs. has been readily obtained for wheat j holders are asking Bs. 6d.
May 9. * Small sales of wheat have been made to-day at Bs. 6d. The extraordinary price of 9s. 9d. for 9,000 bushels, delivered immediately, in town, has been offered. Flour is quoted at £23 10s. to £26.
May 10. A great demand has arisen for flour. £26 is asked. 10s. has been offered for wheat and refused.
There was some excitement on the publication of the Californian news received to-day via Sydney. The Electra cleared to-day for Sydney, with breadstuffs.
It is reported that one New Zealand house alone, during the past few days, has purchaed 4,000 tons flour.
