NELSON INSTITUTE.
The half-yearly meeting of this Institute was haft in the. reading-room, on Wednesday evening last,'-: Mr. H. Adams, president, in the chair.
The Skobitaby read the following half-yearly ; report, which was unanimously adopted ;— " '<
"In presenting this report, the committee hart much pleasure in congratulating the members upon the improred position and prospects of the Institute, The attendance at the reading-room, especially, has been much larger than at anj previous period, and is no doubt owing, in a great measure, to the fact that the table is well supplied with colonial and English newspapers, and with a large variety of periodicals. • " Considerable additions to the library bare beer* made both by presentation and by purchase, and lat* terly the committee hare made arrangements for new works of great interest* to be sent direct by book post} the extra expense being defrayed by an additional charge on each of such works for the first thret months.
"The committee hare to thank the Provincial Government and Conncil for a rote of £120 towards the maaeum. Tbu rote will allow of manj necessary Mtdjtkmt being made to the uuweaa* A eabiaei •*"
