Black Horse, Suburban-north. 5771 TO STAND this SEASON, at Grove Farm, Nelson, the high-class thoroughbred horse TOWTON, own brother to Marchioness (recently sold to go to Australia for 630 guineas), winner of the Oaks, 1855, by Melbourne, out of Cinizelli, by Touchstone, granddam Brocade by Pantaloon, great granddam Bombazine by Thunderbolt [vide Stud Book, vii., 70.] Melbourne, by Humphrey Clinker, dam by Cervantes, her dam by Golumpus ; Paynator, sister to Zodiac, by St. George ; Abigail, by Woodpecker [vide Stud Book, iv., 81.] Melbourne is the sire of Sir Tatton Sykes, winner of the St. Leger, 1846 ; Cymba, winner of the Oaks, 1848 ; West Australian, winner of the Derby and Leger, 1853 ; Blink Bonny, winner of the Derby and Oaks, 1857 ; Summerside, winner of the Oaks, 1859 ; and numerous other first-class horses.
