Commercial Intelligence.
WELLINGTON.
We are happy to be able to notice some improvement in Commercial affairs since our Jast Summary. The Christopher Newton and Mermaid have arrived during the month with seasonable supplies of goods, and although stocks of British Imports atill continue excessive, we are hopeful should further arrivnls bo moderate for a month or two, that things will recover, and business assume a more healthy aspect than has been the case for the last six months. Buyers are still acting with great caution, and purchasing only for immediate wants. The wool is now coming in from the coast and interior, but we believe there will not be much purchased till the arrival of the September mail now due and anxiously looked for. Should the wool market bo iv a satisfactory state at home,
and the weather continue favourable for shearing operations it will have a most beneficial effect on business here. The competition for homeward freight appears to be very keen the rate for wool being \d. per lb. This is the lowest rate that has been taken here and is so far in favour of the grower. In consequence of recent advices from Australia, Flour has gone down in price and is now quoted from £20 to £22.
The following prices are quoted at the Mills : — Flour, fine, £20 to £25 per ton ; wheat, 9s. to 10s. 6d. per bushel: bran, Is. 3d. do. — Wellington Independent, November 29.
