RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Monday, July 18, 1859. [Before J. Poynteb, Esq., Resident Magistrate.] James Blinco was charged with robbing Frederiok Rose of a £5 note. Prisoner admitted taking it from the bagatelle table at Mr. M'Gee's. Sentenced to six months' hard labour. James Harford was placed at the-bar, charged with having absconded from his master, Mr. Evan Jones, to whom he was apprenticed. Having pleaded guilty, and his master not wishing to press the charge, The Magistrate ordered the prisoner to go back to his work, and be careful of his future conduct.

Wednesday, July 20. Mrs. Abbott was cliarged with being drunk and disorderly $ and, aa this was her fourth appearance.in the

same character, she was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labour. Ohahles Henet Mabtin v. William and Benjamin Gill, FOB £15. — In this case it appeared that the defendants had undermined the plaintiff's fence, in obtaining gravel to mend a road. Judgment for plaintiff, for £5 and costs. The Board of Works v. the Governors of Nelson Colleg-e,fob £18 12s. lOd. — The Magistrate eaid he would adjourn this case and consider what his judgment would be. Abraham Maule v. Au&ustus Vaughan, fob £1 103. — Judgment for plaintiff, with costs. W. Wilkie t7. W. Nisbett, fob £11 7s. Id. — Judgment for plaintiff, with costs. Benjamin Faibhall v. John Links, fob £12.— Mr. Eingdon appeared for the plaintiff; Mr. Connell for the defendant. Plaintiff was nonsuited.

Alexander Scott v. Jambs Legoatt, for £18 14s. lid. — Mr. Kingdon appeared for the plaintiff ; Mr. Conuell for the defendant. This was a horse case, and produced the usual amount of cro33 swearing. Judgment, however, was given for the plaintiff—payable in three weeks.
