The Tasmanian Maid arrived from Wellington yesterday morning. The steamer left Nelson on Friday last, after visiting the new township in the Pelorus ; called at the bay near the north entrance of Queen Charlotte Sound, where the Marchioness was wrecked ; and thence proceeded to the Wairau. Leaving that port on Monday morning, she encountered a tremendous south-east gale, and was compelled to put into Port Underwood, where she remained until the gale abated. On Wednesday, the steamer proceeded on to Wellington, and left that port for Wairau on Thursday afternoon, again -visited the vfreck of the Marchioness, and brought on to Nelson about twenty tons of damaged goods, and some sails, gear, &o.
