Horses to be named within a quarter of an hour after the race for the Shearers' Purse, and to be handicapped by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint. No public money will be given unless three horses, bona fide the property of separate owners, start for any of the advertised races. Horses to start for the Maiden Plate at 11 o'clock, a.m., precisely ; the bell for saddling will ring at twenty minutes to 11. No person, not a subscriber of £1 to the Race Fund will be allowed to enter any horse for any of the races except the Hack Racej nor for the latter, unless a subscriber of l(>s. A bell will ring for saddling, and another before starting. Not more than half an hour to elapse between any of the races. No person to be allowed to erect any building for the sale of refreshment on the Race Ground, unless a subscriber of £5 to the Race Fund. No dogs will be allowed on the course. The prizes will be paid on the Friday following the races, at the Wairau Hotel, at 11 o'clock, a.m. F. L. Vickerman, Honorary Secretary of Wairau Jockey Club NOTICE TO IMMIGRANTS. — The Provincial Government of WELLINGTON will, in pursuance of the Resolution of the Provincial Council, be prepared to convey to each immigrant (introduced under their regulations), as soon as he shall have redeemed his promissory note or notes, a quantity of Land equal in value (at the rate of 10s. an acre) to one-fourth of the amount of his passage money. For example: every Immigrant, on redemption of his promissory note or notes, will be entitled to receive Ten Acres of Land for every Twenty Pounds he shall have paid on account of the passage of himself and family. These grants of land will either be made out of blocks specially reserved for immigration purposes in small-farm and agricultural settlements, or in the immediate vicinity of roads in process of construction ; or the immigrant may select the quantity to which he shall be declared entitled out of any lands open to purchase as Rural. In order to facilitate the location of immigrants desirous of immediately settling upon land and of being employed on the Public Works, Reserves will be made wherever practicable, along or near each line of rond, and will be l»id off in ten-acre sections, which the immigrants will be permitted at once to occupy, receiving a conveyance of the Fame as soon as they ehall havo paid the whole of their passage money. Parties desirous of availing themselves of this privilege in the block at present being surveyed in the Grey Town Settlement, are requested to make immediate application tD the undersigned, who will give any further information that may be required.
