England's Hope has been recently imported from England^ is rising five years old, and is considered by competent judges to be the finest horse ever imported. Terms : — £5 per mare, and 7s. 6d. fee to groom. To stand at the Wakefield Arms, Waimea South, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays ; at the Star and Garter, Richmond, on Fridays, from 10 to 3 o'clock ; and at the Trafalgar Hotel, Nelson, on Saturdays. Payment to be made on or before the Ist of February, and Groom's fee at the time of covering. No attendance on Sundays. TO STAND THIS SEASON, the powerful Black Cart Horse, "NORTH STA R." "North Star" will attend at the Wakattt Hotel, Nelson, EVERY SATURDAY. Terms :— £3 3s. each mare, to be paid before the Ist February, 1858 j and ss. the Groom, to be paid the first visit. Black Horse, Wakapuaka, October 6th, 1857. THE thorough-bred Horse "CAMDEN" will STAND this SEASON, in Nelson, until the Ist of Desember next. Camden was bred by James Macarthur, Esquire, of Camden Park, New South Wales ; was got by Calendar, out of Mr. Macarthur's celebrated mare Cassan* dra. Calendar was imported by the Australian Agricultural Company, was got by Canteen out of Hambletonia by Stamford, out of Harmonica by Hambletonian, out of Monica by Sir Peter ; and was halfbrother to General Chasse. Cassandra's dam, Alice Grey, was by Old Emigrant out of Gulnare, by Lord Egremont's Young Gohanna out of Ultima by Hollybush. Old Emigrant, by Pioneer out of Ringtail by Buzzard, was bred by Mr. Rush in 1822, and imported into New South Wales by Captain Bous, E.N., in 1828. Cassandra's sire, Tros, was by Priam, out of Ally by Partisan; was bred by Lord Albermarle, and imported into New South Wales, by Mr. Kater, in 1840. Cassandra was only eight months on the turf in New South Wales, during which short period she beat every horse that she met, the veteran Jorrocks included. Camden won the SI. Leger, at Homebush, and many other races in New South Wales. Camden's services will be limited to twenty mares. Terms— Ten pounds a mare and five shilhngs the groom. TO STAND THIS SEASON, at the Redwood Run, Waihopai, the powerful thoroughbred horse AUGEAN, by Sir Hercules, out of Pretence by Gil Bias, out of Penelope (vide Stud Book, iv., pp. 40, 274). Sir Hercules by Cap-a-pie, out of Paraguay (vide Stud Book, iv., pp. 346, 450). Atx&JEAN is rising five years old, with good temper, and is the most powerful thoroughbred horse in the colony, his stock promising to become excellent weight-carrying hackneys. The horse has been accustomed for three seasons to run at large, and has never failed to stint every mare sent to him. Terms. — Five guineas a mare, with a liberal allowance if more than one mare sent the property of any one person. Fees to be paid on or before the Ist of February, 1858. Mares received after the 15th of September next, and will be suffered to run with the horse until the 15th of January, 1858, after which date a charge of five shillings a week win be made for such as may remain. The Redwood Bun is well grassed, and every attention will be paid to the mares, but no responsibility incurred. C. Elliott* Summerlands, Waihopai, July 24. He has proved himself a sure foal-getter. Terms : — Three guineas a mare, and five shilHnga the groom. The fine young horse "FERGUS." A bright chestnut, rising three years old ; by Sir Hercules, out of a half-bred mare; is remarkably quiet, and free from all vice. (His progeny, out of light mares, would be far stronger and better hacks than if got by a thorough-bred horse). He will be at the Wakatu Hotel every Friday.. Terms : — Two guineas a mare, and five shilhngs the groom. The above covering fees to be paid on or be* fore the Ist of February, 1858. Groomage to be paid on first visit.
