IVTOTICE is hereby given that, at the next -L 1 sessions of the Provincial Council for tho Province of Nelson, APPLICATION will be made on behalf of the Dun Mountain Copper Mining Company (Limited), FOR LEAVE TO INTRODUCE A BILL to empower the said Company to construct and maintain a RAILWAY, for the transport of the ores and other produce arising from the mines and lands of the Company, leading from the said mines and lands along and over the public road now existing in the district of the Maitai in the said province, and along and over certain of the public streets in the Town of Nelson, and along and over waste lands of the Crown intervening between the said mines and lands and the place of sale and shipment of tho produce of the said mines and lancls, with power to the Company to take and purchase private lands necessary for the purposes of the said Railway ; and I hereby further give notice that plans, showing the proposed line of the said Railway, will, within six weeks from this date, be deposited at the following places, namely — At the Office of the Commissioner of Public Works for the said province, At the Office of the Board of Works for tile said Town of Nelson, At the Office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands for the said province, At the Office of the Superintendent of the said province, And at the Office of the said Company in Trafal-gar-street North, in the said Town of Nelson. The CONSOLATION STAKES of two soys. each, with 20 soys. added for all horses that have started and not won in tho previous races : the second horse to save his stake. Horses to be named within a quarter of an hour after the race for the Shearers' Purse, and to be handicapped by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint. One mile and a distance. Horses to be entered, and the colours of the riders to be stated (except for the Hack Race), under a sealed cover, addressed to the Secretary of the Wairau Jockey Club, at the Wairau Hotel, on or before two o'clock, p. m., of Saturday, December 26th, 1857, after which the entrance fees will be doubled. • Horses to start for the Maiden Plate at 11 o'clock, a.m., precisely; the bell for saddling will ring at twenty minutes to 11. No person, not a subscriber of £1 to the Race Fund will be allowed to enter any horse for any of the races except the Hack Race ; nor for tho latter, unless a subscriber of 10s. A bell will ring for saddling, and another before starting. Not more than half an hour to elapse between any of the races. No person to bo allowed to erect any building for the sale of refreshment on the Race Ground, unless a subscriber of £5 to the Race Fund. No dogs will be allowed on tho course.
