Camden was bred by James Macarthur, Esquire, of Camden Park, New South Wales ; was got by Calendar, out of Mr. Macarthur's celebrated mare Cassandra. Calendar was imported by the Australian Agricnl* tural Company, was got by Canteen out of Hambletonia by Stamford, out of Harmonica by Hambletonian, out of Monica by Sir Peter; and was halfbrother to General Chasse. Cassandra's dam, Alice Grey, was by Old Emigrant out of Gulnare, by Lord Egremont's Young Gohanna out of Ultima by Hollybush. Old Emigrant, by Pioneer out of Ringtail by Buzzard, was bred by Mr. Rush in 1822, and imported into New South Wales by Captain Rous. R.N.. in 1828. Cassandra's sire, Tro3, was by Priam, out of Ally by Partisan; was bred by Lord Albermarle, and imported into New South Wales, by Mr. Kater, in 1840. Cassandra was only eight months on the turf in New South Wales, during which short period she beat every horse that she met, the veteran Jorroclca included. Camden won the St. Leger, at Homebush, and many other races in New South Wales. Camden's services will be limited to twenty mares. Terms — Ten pounds a mare and five shillings tho groom. THE above powerful HORSE will STAND THIS SEASON, EVERY SATURDAY, at the Trafalgar Hotel Stables, commencing 24th October ; Wakefield Arms, Tuesday, 27th October j Forest Inn, Tuesday, 3rd November ; and alternately at the two hitter places on Tuesdays. Fee— £2 10s. ; to be paid on or before Ist January, 1858. Groomage — 55. ; to be paid at service, John Siogslkow. Ranzau, 19th October, 1857. * # * Goliah will be at the Motueka Hotel, on Friday, the 25th November. Fee, &c, as above. TO STAND this Season, at RICHMOND, at the Stable of the undersigned, the Thoroughbred Horse, "IL BARBIERE" (Sire of Zingara). II Barbiere is by Figaro out of an Emilius mare, imported into this Settlement by the late H. A. Thompson, Esq. Her dam Sal (sister to Sam, winner of the Derby in 1818) by Scud, out of Hyale by Phenomenon, Rally by Trumpator. (V. "Stud Book," vol. iv., p. 408). Figaro, bred by Mr. Iceley, of Coombing, -New South Wales, was imported into Wellington by Mr. Watt,, and is by Operator out of Adelaide, by Theorem, out of Manto, by Soothsayer. Operator and Theorem were imported into Nevr South Wales. For their respective pedigrees {V. "Stud Book," vol. iv., p. 513, and vol. iii., p. 301. Terms : — £4 4s. each mare, and ss. the groom. W. Matthews. Richmond, October 9, 1857. A THELSTANE and LINCOLN will 2X. SERVE MARES THIS SEASON, at £3 each and ss. the Groom. They will be at the Wakefield Arms every Tcxjday; Richmond every Friday j and Nelson every Saturday, weather permitting. Any Person sending Four Mares, bonafide his own, to either or both Horses, shall have one served free of charge. Every attention paid to Mares as usual, but no responsibility incurred. Covering Fees to be paid by the Ist January; Groomage on the first visit of the Mare. H. Redwood, jun. Hedgesford, Waimea-west. TO STAND THIS SEASON, at the Redwood Run, Waihopai, the powerful thoroughbred horse AUGEAN, by Sir Hercules, out of Pretence by Gil Bias, out of Penelope (vide Stud Book, iv., pp. 40, 274). Sir Hercules by Cap-a-pie, out of Paraguay (vide Stud Book, iv., pp. 346, 450). Augean is rising five years old, with good temper, and is the most powerful thoroughbred horse in the colony, his stock promising to become excellent weight-carrying hackneys. The horse has been accustomed for three seasons to run at large, and has never failed to stint every mare sent to him. Terms. — Five guineas a marc, with a liberal allow* ance it' more than one mare sent the property of any one person. Fees to be paid on or before the Ist of February, 1858. Alares received after the 15th of September next, and will be suffered to run with the horse until the 15th of January, 1858, after which date a charge of five shillings a week will be made for such as may remain. The Redwood Run is well grassed, and every attention will be paid to the mares, but no responsibility incurred. C. Elliott. Summerlands, Waihopai, July 2A. TO STAND THIS SEASON, the powerful Cart Stallion "PLOUGHMAN." Attendance every Tuesday, at the Star and Garter, Richmond ; and at the Wakatu Hotel, Nelson, every Friday ; the remaining time at home. He has proved himself a sure foal-getter. Terms : — Three guineas a mare, and five shillings the groom. The fine young horse " F E R G V S." A bright chestnut, rising three years old ; by Sir Hercules, out of a half-bred mare; is remarkably quiet, and free from all vice. (His progeny, out of lighfe mares, would be far stronger and better hacks than if got by a thorough-bred horse). lie will bo at the Wakatu Hotel every Friday. Terms : — Two guineas a mare, and five shillings th* groom. The above covering fees to be paid on or before the Ist of February, 1858. Groomage to be paid on first visit.
