AUSTRIA.
Baron James de Rothschild has just left Vienna for St. Petersburg, in order to concert with the Russian Government relative to the railways which are about to be constructed in that empire by a company of which he is the principal representative. A letter from Vienna in the Suahian Mercury saysi — "JVI. deJßazily, Russian Councillor of State, has brought here the official assurance that Russia has no intention whatever of eluding the obligations she had contracted by the treaty of Paris, This intelligence was received with great satisfaction." The Military Gazette of Vienna says : — "The officers charged with the mission of examining the improvements effected in Eng _*
land, Belgium, and France in engineering and artillery arms have returned here, and it would appear, from their report, that the superiority in these arms is on the side of Austria."
