To the Editor of the ' Nelson Examinee.' A PLEA FOR A REGATTA.

Sib — Some of us who can spell out your paper, and some who can't, can handle a boat if they can't handle a horse j and ns you have always had the character of lending a hand in getting up amusement for the public, perhaps you will jusfc give us a drag towards a Regatta. There i 3 a fine bay ; plenty of sea room for small craft ; the sea breezes are just setting in ; and water smooth enough for a thorough-bred cockney, sire and clam, as you would say, to keep his breakfast where it ought to bo after he has swallowed it. What more can be wanted for a Rcgattn, except boats ? and they will be all there when the gun fires, if you can manage to get up a Eegalta. Now, Mr. Editor, I don't pretend to write letters for you to cut to pieces next week, so I'll come to the point at onee — will you help us or will you not? Jack does not want to make money by sport ; lie would sooner spend a pound on a spree than keep it in his pocket. So heave a-hcad, my hearty, and the ospGnso bo blos&ocl. Yours, <tc, Poob Jack. P.S. — Though I believe you know a horse's head from his tail, I aint quite so certain that you know the stem from the stern of a boat ; so perhaps you had belter ask Captain Nicholson or Captain Akersten to show you the ropes.
