Bum?, and the other Electors who have signed the Requisition. Gentlemen — It is with feelings of unfeigned pleasure I feel called upon to acknowledge the receipt of your frank yet kind invitation to become your Representative for this' District, in the Council of this Province} the guarantee of a majority of the resident Electors appearing to you to justify the belief, that on the day of election I shall be honoured with such a number of the suffrages of the constituency as will realize your " wishes and expectations. i j It is true, Gentlemen, as you intimate, I cannot undertake the duties your partiality would impose upon me without considerable private sacrifice ; but I feel it would ill accord with the principles I have ever professed and acted upon, during a residence of nearly thirteen years amongst most of you, were I to withhold my services, however humble they may be, at a time when you are pleased to think they may be made available in promoting the interests of this important and valuable District. I therefore cheerfully comply with your request ; ,and should the result of your election place me in tfie honourable position of being your Representative, I trust that my conduct will be such as to merit the great confidence and high esteem you express towards me. I am, Gentlemen, Your faithful and obedient servant, # J>P. ROBISSOX, Motupipi, Massacre Bay, A " * July 21, 1855. :
