THE NELSON EXAMINER. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, 1855.

We observe with regret an announcement from Mr. Weld, the member for the Wairau, that he has vacated his seat in the House of Representatives, and is about to leave the colony for a time. The active .part taken by Mr. Weld as a member of the first Responsible Ministry in New Zealand, and his general conduct in the House, make the loss of his services at this critical time a matter of real concern to the colony. i

We have copied from the New Zealand Gazette an article tiiken from a St. Helena paper on the removal of Colonel Gore Browne from that island to the governorship of Nctv Zealand. If Colonel Browne really possesses the qualities therein assigned to him, we maj congratulate ourselves on his appointment to this colony.

The Wellington Independent of the 9th May, in announcing the sailing of the Titan schooner for London on the day following, with a cargo of colonial produce, observes :—: — "This will make the second vessel that has been despatched from this port for London this season, the barque Monsoon having sailed from Wellington on the 27th ultimo, with a valuable cargo, principally consisting of 839 bales of wool, 18 tons of flax, and four tons of copper ore, the estimated value of which is 13s. A portion of the Monsoon's cargo was sent from Nelson." The Independent has fallen into an error, which, of course, was inadvertent, in stating that any portion of the cargo was shipped in Wellington, for the vessel was loaded entirely in this province, with our own produce, and she only called off Wellington, and anchored for a few hours in Worser's Bay to take passengers on board. We need but point out to the Independent, we are sure, the error into which it has been led by its shipping reporter, and it will instantly correct it. j
