NELSON SCHOOL SOCIETY. .mA^^*' THIS IDstitution, established irj^Nelson in 1843, has for its object the EDUCATION of the CHILDREN of Residents of ALL RELIGIOUS PERSUASIONS, by the establishment of schools in every part of the Province where needed, and by supplying such schools with the best means of instruction attainable. It hat already erec ed Nine Schools in different districts, and is now supporting Six Teachers, and engaging others. It has afforded education to a large majority of the young population for ten years. The principles on which the schools are conducted, are such at profess to impart religiout as well as secular initruction, free from denominational peculiarity, need, or institute— the sacred Scriptures being the only religious book introduced. The Society is supported by the scholars' fees and voluntary contribution*, asuated by the Provincial Government. Its management it by trustees, and by a committee, secretary, and treasurer, chosen by the members at an annual general meeting. A subscription of 10s. a year and upwards constitutes membership during the continuance of such subicription. The fathers of children who have attended any of the Society's schools for twelve months previous to the annual meeting, are also entitled to a vote at such meeting. Tbe schools ore always open to receive scholars. Subscriptions for the tnpport of the above Society will be received by Mr. Camtbell, treasurer, or by Mr. W. SI. Stanton, iccretarr.
