I**2?^ THIS Institution, established in Nelson in 1843, has for its object the EDUCATION of (he CHILDREN of Residents of ALL RELIGIOUS PERSUASIONS, by the establishment of schools in every part of the Province where needed, and by supplying such schools with the best means of instruction attainable.' It hsj already erec ed Nine Schools in different districts, and is now supporting Six Teachers, and engaging other*. It has afforded education to a large majority ot the young population for ten years. The principles on which the schools are conducted, are such as profess to impart religious as well as secular instruction, free from denominational peculiarity, creed, or institute— the sacred Scriptures being the only religious book introduced. The Society is supported by the scholars' fees and voluntary contributions, assisted by the Provincial Government. Its management is by trustees, and by a committee, secretary, and treasurer, chosen by the members at an annual general meeting. A subscription of 10s. a year and upwards constitutes membership during the continuance of such subscription. The fathers of children who have attended any of the Society's schools for twelve months previous to the annual meeting, are also entitled to a vote at such meeting. The schools are always open to receive scholars. Subscriptions for the support ot the above Society will be received by Mr. Campbell, treasurer, or by Mr. W. M.
