Nicholson. yA RT UNION.— The idea having been ii suggestedfor the formation in Nelson of an UNION for the distribution of PICTURES, and WORKS OF ART, it has been determined, as an experiment on the practicability \ of establishing a permanent institution hereafter on a more extended principle, and on a higher caste, to OPEN immediately a SHARE LIST, for the purposes of an ART UNION of ENGRAVINGS, to be conducted as hereinafter stated. And in accordance with such determination, the necessary arrangements are in course of completion. 1. There are on sale at the Store of Mr. W. Stanton, Trafalgar-street, 142 shares, at Ss. 6d. etch, which entitle the owner to the advantages of the Union. > 3. When the whole of the shares shall be taken up, notice will be given by advertisement of the distribution of the Engravings, which will be in number equal to the cumber of shares, thus entitling every member to a priie of more or less value. 3. The Engravings have been valued by competent judges, and marked respectively according to the numbers following:— Nos. £ s. d. Some days previous to the distribution, the specimens will be open for public inspection, in a place to be hereafter made Itnown. 5. The distribution to be conducted as nearly as possible on the principle of the London Art Union. It is desirable that parties intending to take shares, should purchase them at an early period, in order that it may be concluded within a month ; and as the present attempt is made with a view to a periodical Exhibition hereafter, to include more taste and worth, it it trusted the public will not deny its patronage to the experiment.
