Sydney. — In consequence of the late lamentable shipwrecks in Bass's Straits, the Government of New South Wales are about to erect four lighthouses there : on Kings Island and C.ipe Otvray, at the western entrance, and on Cape Howe and Kent's Group, at the eastern entrance. — The favorable accounts received of the wool sales in England has caused colonial buyers to contract for the present clip at an advance of 3d. a pound on the prices given last season. The value of hides has fallen 20 per cent The refusal of Ministers to admit Australian corn into England on the same terms as corn from Canada, has caused considerable sensation in New South Wales. Meetings have been held in all parts of the country to petition Parliament on the subject; and a great meeting was about to be held in Sydney to petition the Queen and both houses of Parliament.
