WELLINGTON TO PICTON YACHT RACE

Picton, Dec. 23. C. Livingstone's yawl-rigged cutter Raukawa to-day won the combined clubs’ ocean yacht race from Wellington to Picton. Wakarere (K. Elliott) was second and Kotere (R. Broberg) was third. Of the ten boats that started only five managed to reach Picton before the tide began to recede. Flat calms were encountered in the Sounds, and as a result the other five did not arrive till several hours after the first contestants. Two boats, the Romp and Te Hongi, had not arrived in Picton by 10 p.m.
