BIGGER FLEET FOR RUSSIA
SHIPBUILDERS BUSY WITH DESIGNS London, Nov. 30. Reuter’s Moscow correspondent learns that Russia is building a bic~ar and more modern fleet and undoubtedly intends to become a major naval power within the next few years. Shipbuilders, with the help of British and American gift ships and captured enemy vessels, are busy designing now units, especially major warships and aircraft-carriers. The correspondent points out that Russia, historically a Continental power, now possesses new outlets to the sea both in the east and west. The Red Fleet, which was previously a “small shin” organisation, lagged behind the Army and Air Force in technical development.
