Major J. H. Daymond, M.Sc, (Eng.), a member of the institute of civil engineers arid associate member of the institution of structural engineers, has been appointed to the chair of civil engineering at Canterbury University College. Major Daymond is recognised as a leading British authority on sewerage and drainage. His research work has been largely in hydraulics since 1930. Major Daymond, who is aged 44, has been lecturer in civil engineering at Liverpool University.
Mr C. J. Irving, of Blenheim, Nel-son-Marlborough-Westland District vice-president of the N.Z. Returned Services’ Association, arrived in Nelson this afternoon to attend th e Nelson R.S.A. quarterly general meeting this evening. Miss F. Ford, who has been dental nurse in Golden Bay during the past 18 months, has been transferred to Hawera.
Mr R. H. Goodman, of the New Zealand Insurance Co., Ltd., who has been resident inspector in Nelson for the past 13 years has been transferred as manager to the Bendigo (Victoria) branch of the company. His successor is Mr L. B. Ewen, of Wellington.
