D.F.C. AWARDED P/O WOODMAN Wellington This Day. The citation to award of the D.F.C, to Pilot Officer B. W. Woodman, of d’Urville Island, states: “Throughout numerous operational missions he has proved himself an exceptionally keen and able pilot in air combat. 1 * It continues; “He lias destroyed four enemy aircraft, shared in the destruction of another and damaged two more. While attacking ground targets, many of which were heavily defended. Pilot Officer Woodman destroyed or damaged af least 58 enemy mechanical transport vehicles. He has taken the fullest advantage of every opportunity to engage the enemy both in the air and on the ground and the results which he has achieved have been outstanding.” Pilot Officer Woodman's father is Mr A. J. Woodman. Greville Harbour, d’Urville Island.
