YACHT DESIGN CONTEST

FIFTH PLACE TO NELSON MAN Auckland, Aug. 6 A yacht design competition arranged some time ago by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron with a first prize of £25 sterling has been won by an Aucklander. Lieutenant-Commander A. C. Rohfc. R.N.V.R., who is now in London. The design required by the terms of the competition was of a sailing yacht for week-end or vacation cruising and class racing in the Hauraki Gulf. Twenty-one designs were received, eight of the entries being from Great Britain, six from Auckland, three from southern New Zealand ports, and one each from California, India. Fiji and Melbourne. Second place in the competition has been won by another Aucklander. Mr R. L. Stewart Third place is shared equally by Shipbuilders. Limited, Auckland. and Mr A. H. Hall, of the Royal Ocean Racing Club, London, and the fifth nlace has gone to Mr G. C Dickson Nelson.
